There was funeral down at my void deck. Ritual was performed every night. My kids especially my girl was disturbed by the noise. Below was the conversation exchanged between my girl and me.
(A): Daddy, why so noisy?
(Me): Some one passed away.
(A): Why some one pass away?
(Me): They are old already. Next time Daddy and Mummy will pass away when we are old.
(A): Daddy, I don't want. I don't want Daddy and Mummy to pass away. When you and Mummy pass away, who take care of me, who stay with me?
(Me): You brother will stay and take care of you. Both of you must take care of each other.
(A) I don't want. Didi so small how to take care of me? I want Daddy and Mummy. We are one family.
When I got this reply, my heart simply melted at the instant. How can my heart not melt? From her answer, I know my girl really loves both me and wifey.

Aww,your girl is so sweet.
Did you just bend over and bring her close to your chest? I always do that when they say something that amazing!
She brought tears to her daddy's eyes ... :)
O mommy..of course your girl loves you very very much!
"We are one family" is indeed a wonderful reply and amazing how children can understand that.
We have not actually talked about if mummy or daddy is to pass away, but we have talked about death result of sickness or old age (my father had already passed on, and we are staying together with my in-laws). It's something they will not fully grasp till a certain age.
My daughter will feel sad and cry when she hears us say "pass away" "no more by your side"..that's why we alws tell the kids to love each other, bcuz they will lean on each other once we are gone.
